CALCH – Volunteer Opportunity

Throughout 2013 there are several events and activities for families, groups and individuals of all ages to get involved in the CALCH Project. To find out more about CALCH and your limestone heritage visit our website at: www.calch.org.uk

Some upcoming events:

  • Archaeological investigations, survey and recording. Between 11th and 23rd March (including weekends) we are looking for volunteers to come along and help us discover how lime kilns were built and used
  • On 27th March there is a talk on the Black Mountain Lime industry at The Dolau Bran Hall at 7.15 organised by the Dyfed Family History Society
  • On Saturday 20th April there is a walk around the quarries organised by the Brecon Beacons Park Society
  • ‘Rocks, Roads and Riots!’ As part of the Fforest Fawr Geopark Festival, Dyfed Archaeological Trust and BBNPA are holding a Lime Heritage discovery day on Carreg Sawdde on 27th May. Come along to discover all about lime, the geology of the Black Mountain, history, guided walks and tours of the quarries, story-telling and much more…..
  • Keep an eye on the What’s On section of the CALCH website for more information and events.
